To provide patient services, information and research funding in the Tri-State to prevent and alleviate the life- threatening effects of renal disease.
Vision
To be recognized in the Tri-State as the leading resource for kidney health education and patient services.

2006 Summary of Accomplishments
- Patient services provided assistance to 565 clients
- Health Education presentations to 23,781 children and adults
- Informational services to about 700 beneficiary phone calls and emails
- Awarded $30,000 to three Research Grants
- Newsletter produced with about 60,000 being reached
Patient Services
Patient Services provided assistance to 565 clients:
- Medication Aid Program helps clients afford much needed medication (275 clients)
- Emergency Grants are one-time gifts that help clients pay for food, rent, utilities or transportation (324 clients)
- Nutritional Supplements help clients maintain a healthy balance of nutrients (100 clients)
Health Education
Health Education presentations to 23,781 children and adults:
- Captain Kidney is an interactive program for elementary students (grade 1-6)
- Jr. High & High School presentations cover kidney health, A-Z, for students grade 7-12
- Spirit of Health is presented in neighborhood churches focusing on the importance of good kidney health and the relationship the kidneys have with the total health of an individual
- Corporate & group presentations customized for the audience’s interests
- KATCH (Kidney Assessment Through Comprehensive Health) is a screening program to identify individuals at risk for developing kidney disease.
2006 Medical Research
- Dr. William R. DeFoor, Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Cincinnati Depart ment of Surgery and Assistant Professor of Pediatric Urology at the Children's Hospital Medical Center, awarded $12,500 for his project "The Efficacy of Gentamicin Bladder Irrigations in Complex Pediatric Urologic Patients"
- Dr. Bradley P. Dixon, Research Fello at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, awarded $12,500 for his project "DNA Damage and Malignancy of the Pediatric Neobladder"
- Dr. N. Ganesh Yadlapalli, Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, awarded $5,000 for his project "Assessment of GFR in Patients With Heart Failure"
- The Foundation’s Medical Advisory Board screens research applications and awards grants to local researchers doing work in accordance with the mission and vision of the Foundation.
- Seed-money grants support the continued advances in the cause, treatment, cure and prevention of kidney disease and often help obtain NIH funding.
