Car Donation Process
When you have a car you no longer need (and if you live within a 50-mile radius of the 275 loop in Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky), call the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati for a free pickup. Your donation will help people here in Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana, and you may be eligible for a tax deduction.
(Please, consult your tax advisor.)
Before the car can be donated the title must be signed over to the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati and notarized. You can take the title to your bank, credit union or to a notary to have this completed.
Fill out and submit Online Donation Form
OR
Call the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, (513) 961-8105. Tell the person who answers the phone that you would like to donate your car to the Foundation. Provide that person with your name, Social Security Number, address, daytime phone number, in whose name the title is listed, the year, make and model of the car and your Tax ID if donated by a business or organization. There are five additional survey questions you will be asked to complete the donation process.
If you submit the Donation Form online, an agency staff member will call you to complete the transaction by asking for your Social Security Number, giving you a reference number and supplying you with the phone number to call to arrange for the free tow.
When the vehicle, title and key (s) are picked up, the car will go to auction. Once the car is sold, you will receive documentation verifying the auction price of your donated vehicle. You will receive a thank you letter from the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati stating that you received no monies or goods for the vehicle(s). Changes in the 2005 tax laws stipulate that the donor can claim only the amount for which the car sells at auction as a deduction on tax returns. We cannot give any tax advice. We suggest that you talk with your tax advisor as to the deductibility of the donation.
